1st option, Baking Soda Paste: Mix 3 Tbs of baking soda with about 3 Tbs of warm water, until it forms a thick paste. Add more water as needed – it should be a bit thinner than toothpaste. Massage it into your scalp. Massage your scalp all over, for at least 30 seconds. This actual feels so good! Leave it on your hair for a minute or two. Then rinse well.
2nd option, I like this was because it is a little easier and less messy: In an old shampoo bottle, mix 1 part aluminum-free baking soda to 3 parts Water. Shake it well to mix before using. Massage it into your scalp and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then rinse well.
In an old shampoo bottle, mix 1 part Apple Cider Vinegar to 4 parts Water. You can add essential oils or herbs if you want to make it smell nice. Coat your scalp and hair with the vinegar, and allow it to sit for at least 30 seconds. You can either rinse or leave it in your hair. If your hair is naturally dry you can add a teaspoon of coconut oil, avocado oil, or olive oil.
This is simple, nontoxic, and you will save a lot of money. When I first started making my own shampoo and conditioner and stopped using commercial stuff, I definitely had to go through a hair detox. My hair and scalp was so used to the store bought shampoo filled with chemicals that it needed to adjust. Some people's hair transitions very well and others take longer (usually 1 to 2 weeks of confusion). Either way, I totally recommend it. My hair is healthy, strong, and shiny! I love it!
