Here are some rejuvenating and skin stimulating recipes that are fabulous for your complexion!
Most products you buy from the store are filled with chemicals that I can hardly pronounce. I used to not really care about this because I didn't think it mattered if I wasn't eating it. But I was so wrong! Your skin is the biggest organ on your body and it is extremely porous. It soaks up whatever you put on your skin, which goes directly into your blood stream. I have been doing a lot of research and experimentation on what is healthy for your skin. Not only do I feel better, but I have saved tons of money!!!
Here are some of my successful experiments. I chose to post these because I think they are the easiest and best.
Homemade Facial Cleanser
Ingredients
1 teaspoon dark organic Honey
1 tablespoon Milk or cream
Warm up the honey until it becomes runny enough to combine with the milk. Wet your face and massage the honey milk mixture onto your skin. Let it sit for a minute before washing it off.
The milk cleanses and soothes while the honey acts as a natural humectant. Synthetic humectants are added to most cleansers because they help to keep the natural moisture under your skin, keeping your complexion youthful and wrinkle free.
(If I'm in a hurry and don't have any of this sitting in my fridge, I will just use some kefir (milk or yogurt work well, too).
Homemade Facial Scrub
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon Green tea
2 Tablespoons Cornmeal
1 Tablespoon Plain Yogurt or Kefir, with active cultures
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh Mint leaves
Mix the green tea and mint and let it steep to make a strong cup of tea. Let it cool down for 15-20 minutes and mix the tea with the yogurt. Put the cornmeal in this mixture and let it soak for a few minutes. Wet your face and gently massage into your skin for a couple of minutes.
Simple Facial Toners (to be used after a cleanser or scrub)
Green Tea, Chamomile Tea, and Mint tea are all fabulous toners! Just brew a strong cup of tea and apply it to your skin with a cotton ball.
Facial Moisturizures (use after cleanser and toner)
Making the perfect moisturizer for your skin can be difficult. I experimented with several different recipes and I found the following mixtures to work the best for me. If you have oily skin you can use a little less oil in the mixture and a little more milk or lemon juice. Most of the time I'm in a hurry so I will just use a tiny bit of apricot seed oil or grape seed oil.
